Just a little more about my journey…

We all really do have to start somewhere. Maybe it’s that we feel like we know nothing, and we set out to change that, or maybe we think we have an idea, so we seek some validation for it. I feel like with most things I land somewhere on that spectrum. So, I end up on google, joining Facebook groups, scrolling Pinterest, or even using the good old-fashioned method of information download; reading a book to tell me what I want to know, all in hopes of some guidance. I found myself doing this more than ever as I prepared for my dream job of becoming a mom.

As a millennial mom my novice internet sleuthing skills came in extra handy when I searched high and low for things like the best baby products, tips for labor and delivery, and time or space saving hacks for all the overflow of new baby stuff. And I am still always on the hunt for more ways to simplify my life, so that I can really focus on the things that are truly important to me. I think back on how CLUELESS I really was in the beginning, and how much I have learned even only after one year since my son was born. Just a few of my proudest accomplishments include one year exclusively breastfeeding my first, cloth diapering using the 80/20 method, learning and navigating baby led weaning.

Listen, I had next to zero firsthand experience with any of these things except for changing my 6-month-old nephew's cloth diapers nearly 10 years ago or feeding him eggs for breakfast a few times. And as far as breastfeeding goes my exposure to it was nothing until I was watching my sister effortlessly and confidently nurse my nephew. IN PUBLIC! I thought everyone did it that way, until I got pregnant and started looking into and then breastfeeding for myself. She made it all look easy! And honestly, I’m so glad she did, because I would have never had the nerve to do any of it. But I knew I wanted to try, and I did as much research as possible to really educate myself before and after the baby got here. It wasn’t all as effortless as she made it look at first either. I had to seek out all the tricks and hacks that worked for me. Especially since anytime I’d ask her for advice, she’d give me the good old “Oh, I don’t know, I don’t remember” answer that most moms with amnesia for the newborn baby phase seem to give. The sleep deprivation is real, and I get it now.

All of that led me here to you!

In this blog I’m going to share all the things I’ve already figured out and I hope you’re ready to follow along as I navigate my newest mom adventures. Because I have even more motivation to learn and grow now that my husband and I are expecting baby #2! Yes, two under two. A whole new ball game. Whether it be pregnancy prep, baby stuff, home organization or my latest rediscovery and priority; self-care, I’ll be here with all the tips. I know you truly deserve to have EVERY STEP motherhood be as easy and painless as possible, and I am dedicated to finding that balance for myself so I can share it with all of you beautiful mamas. We all know nobody’s going to do it for us, so let’s make time for ourselves, and make the absolute most out of this wonderful journey.

Fun Facts

I think we all have a little something special, or something that nobody would guess about us. So, here are a handful of things that I know you’ll be surprised by! One silly fact is that I love mincemeat pie. Most don’t even know what that is, and those who do would probably disagree with my opinion of it. LOL! Another thing that shocks people is that I used to be a hair stylist. It was brief, I wasn’t in love with it, and I ended up going back to school for my bachelor’s in accounting. And yes, I’ve cut my own hair off multiple times. We all have crazy journeys, okay! One final fun fact about me is that I’ve lived in 4 states. I’d be happy to add to the list someday. I found I really loved living in new places and exploring new states. I wish I would have put more effort into the adventure of each place I’ve lived, and I’ll do it up right if I ever get the chance to move to a new one and do it again. But I think what people would find most surprising about this is that my favorite state I’ve ever lived in is Arkansas. You’ve got to check it out!
